What is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating is the most durable paint protection available short of film. A silica-based liquid polymer is applied by hand to fully corrected, decontaminated paint, where it cures into a semi-permanent glass-like layer chemically bonded to the clear coat. Unlike wax, which sits on top of the paint and washes away in weeks, a coating becomes part of the surface and lasts two to five years depending on grade and care. The finish is intensely hydrophobic — water beads and sheets off, carrying dirt with it — which matters enormously through a Mumbai monsoon. It also blocks UV that fades paint under Indian sun, resists bird lime and tree sap etching, and adds hardness that shrugs off the light swirl marks automatic washes inflict. Preparation is most of the job: any swirls or scratches must be corrected first, because a coating locks in whatever is underneath it.
